Our Badge Making Process

At Myers Badges, we believe a badge represents pride, achievement, and belonging. For over 85 years, Myers Badges has refined the craft of badge manufacturing, focusing on quality materials, reliable finishes, and consistent production standards.

Step 1: Selecting the Material
The base metal determines strength and longevity.
• Brass provides premium durability and the lowest failure rate.
• Alloys such as Zinc or Iron offer lower cost and faster production, with a similar appearance once finished, although they can be more prone to wear.

Step 2: Choosing the Production Method
Production depends on design complexity and quantity.
• Die-Stamping or Die-Casting uses a custom steel dies to form the badge, producing high-quality results for larger orders at the best unit cost.
• Stock Shapes with Printed Inserts are an economical option for smaller quantities, reducing setup costs and turnaround times while maintaining a professional finish.

Step 3: Plating
Options include gold, nickel, silver, for gold we prefer 24kt gold plating, which offers a richer colour than imatation gold used by cheaper manufactures.

Step 4: Enamel Filling & Detailing
Enamel paint is applied into recessed areas adding the colour to the badge. Precision filling and polishing ensure badges meet our high quality standards.

Step 5: Fittings & Final Inspection
We understand that reliable fittings are essential. We recommend standard latch clasps or butterfly clutch fittings for reliability and ease of use, we also offer safety clasp fittings, but these are only recommended when using Brass material.
